Evenings - all welcome
During the summer school week Dartmoor Arts presents a series of evening events which are open to summer school students as well as members of the public. Events are free for summer school students and cost £5 on the door for non-students.The 2013 events programme will take place at the The Fingle Bridge Inn, Drewsteignton, Devon and include talks by artists, architects, authors and scientists as well as storytelling, live music and film screenings.

Sunday 28 July - Desert Island Images
The summer school launches with this great event which has become a bit of a tradition. Three artists talk about 8 artworks that have inspired and influenced them and allow us to gain a greater insight into their practice. Always exciting and insightful and a chance to meet students and tutors you will be working with as well. More details to follow...
Monday 29 July - Paul Granjon media art and performance artist
Paul Granjon is interested in in the co-evolution of humans and machines. He has developed an original performance lecture format where he presents his research through demonstration of home made robotic contraptions accompanied by songs and illustrated reflections on the current state of cybernetic technology. The multi-layered content is delivered with deadpan humour and a unique take on the challenges of live performance with hand-made machines. Tuesday 30 July -Karolina Glusiec winner of the 2012 Jerwood Drawing Prize
Karolina Glusiec was born in Lublin in Poland in 1986 and studied Audiovisual Communication at The Academy of Humanity and Economics in Lodz. In 2009 she moved to London and has just completed an MA in animation at The Royal College of Art. She won the 2012 Jerwood Drawing Prize with her animated film 'Velocity'. Wednesday 31 July -Storytelling evening with summer school storytelling students
Our 2013 summer school storytelling students take to the stage and put everything they have learned into practice with an evening of live performances. A brilliant, moving and funny evening with live accoustic music between each perfomance.
Thursday 1 August - Artists talk Andrzej Jackowski
Andrzej studied at Camberwell School of Art, Falmouth School of Art and the Royal College of Art.
He has been showing with Purdy Hicks Gallery in London, since 1992 and was made Professor of Painting in 2003, at the University of Brighton.His exhibitions coming up in 2013 include; Paintings, Drawings and Prints at Aberystwyth Arts Centre and Northumbria University Gallery. Friday 2 August - Tim Britton from Forkbeard Fantasy
TIM BRITTON, Animator, Writer and Performer with FORKBEARD FANTASYwill be presenting a medley of his animations and cartoons as well as some film extracts from Forkbeard shows old and new and talking about animation and film in the context of live performance and Forkbeard’s interactive ‘living’ exhibitions. Tim was one of the co-founders of Forkbeard in 1974, a film and theatre company who helped to pioneer the often mind-boggling mix of film with theatre on the UK performance scene. This technique (which Forkbeard call “Crossing The Celluloid Divide” ) is now widely used in theatre and dance across the world. Saturday 3 August- end of summer school party with live music from The Zen Hussies
The Zen Hussies- a memorable name on the live circuit now for nearly ten years, performing over a thousand gigs on stages of all shapes and sizes, The Zen Hussies are very much a live band, long renowned for their high energy and marathon length set, gregarious showmanship, deft musicianship and good humour alike! A diverse range of genres from Rhythm& Blues,Ska, Dixieland, Swing, Calypso and Rockabilly combine into a brilliant contemporary punked-up Swingska sound.
