Three days; £250.00
Dartmoor Arts is proud to announce the storytelling course with Wilf Merttens, a young award winning poet and storyteller, and Stephen Park, a middle aged comic performer, artist and teacher.
Conjure beasts, summon demons, enlist the gods... An invitation to delve into the ancient art of storytelling from seasoned performers Stephen Park and Wilf Merttens. A course designed to introduce students to the diverse skills of performance relevant to the indefinable practice of telling stories, from imagined geographies to "staying in the now".
Have no fear, the emphasis will be on playful improvisation and not word-perfect-recital. No previous experience necessary just bring along a story, be it Greek myth, Grimm tale or protracted anecdote, and the desire to experience the thrill of performance. The finale of the course involves an evening performance at the Drewe Arms to an audience of summer school students and members of the public. Students of this course last year described it as one of the most exhilarating and life-changing experiences they have ever had! Early booking is advised.
