Booking

We welcome applications from people of all levels of experience.

Applications:

Your place on the course is confirmed and reserved once payment has been received. Students are advised to reserve their chosen course as soon as possible as places are strictly limited.

Please send the completed application form, with payment, to Dartmoor Arts Project, Summer School Application.

Please note that applications cannot be accepted by e-mail.

Arrival and Departure:

Arrival Sunday 28th July 2013. Please arrive between 3pm and 6pm to register at the Fingle Bridge Inn, Drewsteignton. Introduction by the Dartmoor Arts Team at 6pm followed by dinner and the launch evening event.

Departure Sunday 4th August 2013. The summer school finishes at lunchtime on the 3rd August followed by an informal tour in the afternoon of works made by students and finally an end of week party in the evening. All welcome. We encourage everyone to stay for the tour and end of school party.

Materials Costs:

Basic Materials are included in the cost of the courses but some courses have an additional materials supplement. For the two painting courses it is anticipated that students will bring some of their own preferred paints and brushes.

Equipment:

Equipment is provided for all the courses, though photography students may wish to learn on their own cameras.

Working Day:

The working day runs from 9.30am to 4.00pm, followed by an evening meal at 6.30 pm and an artists' talk/film/music or comedy event at 8.00pm.

Artists Talks and Music/Comedy Events:

The artists' talks, music and comedy events, throughout the summer school, are intended as part of the overall experience and are included in the cost of the courses.

Refreshments:

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided at each venue during the day.

Lunch:

Lunch is offered in the form of sandwiches. These are chosen the night before, at dinner, from a list and carry a small charge. Alternatively, students can buy food at the village Post Office.

Dinner:

An evening meal will be provided for all participants at The Fingle Bridge Inn included in the cost of the courses. Unless we have been notified explicitly of any dietary or other requirements, and have agreed to them, we cannot guarantee that they will be met (see application form).

Accommodation:

An Accommodation list can be found on this website. Please note: Dartmoor Arts cannot take responsibility for the quality of any accommodation listed. Dartmoor Arts regrets that it is unable to book accommodation on behalf of students. Accommodation costs must be met by the student.

Health Care:

Overseas students are advised to take out private health insurance.

Transport:

Transport routes to Drewsteignton can be found under Accommodation. All teaching venues are within a few minutes of the centre of Drewsteignton. It would be advisable, though not essential, to have access to a car. English Language: All students whose first language is not English should have a reasonable proficiency in the English language in order to fully benefit from the courses.

Disabled Access:

Dartmoor Arts welcomes applications from disabled students. It is essential that students with any special needs discuss their requirements before making a formal application.

Safety:

Summer School students are required to sign a Safety Compliance Form as part of Dartmoor Arts's Health and Safety regulations.

Storage:

Please take care of your belongings. We regret that we cannot be held responsible for the loss of students' belongings.

Cancellations and Refunds:

Cancellations, withdrawals and requests to transfer from a course for any reason must be received in writing at least one month before the course start date.

Cancellations less than one month before the start of a course are subject to the full payment of course fees unless a substitute student is found. We strongly recommend that all students take out personal insurance against any unforeseeable circumstances. In the unlikely event of a course being cancelled notification will be given with not less than four weeks notice.

Any travel or other arrangements made are at your own risk. If any cancellation takes place less than four weeks before the course commencement then you will be refunded for transport arrangements providing you can provide proof of purchase.
